July 12, 2019 –

Does your auto insurance policy provide enough protection for you, family, and friends in case of an accident?

In Colorado, auto insurance companies must offer “uninsured motorist coverage.” Also called “UM,” uninsured coverage protects you if someone with no insurance causes the accident. This coverage also includes underinsured coverage, called “UIM,” that protects you if someone without enough insurance to pay all your damages causes the accident.

You should keep UM/UIM on your policy with as much coverage as you can afford. Without it, you risk having not enough or no compensation for your medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, or disabling injury. Scarily, 13.3% of Colorado drivers and 20.8% of New Mexico drivers get behind the wheel without any auto insurance! (See the study here) With so many uninsured drivers, it’s up to you to buy UM coverage.
